Multi-service optical transport

ECI's Apollo series is a platform for optical and packet transport, integrating Layer 0, 1, 2, and MPLS-TP technologies. This creates a robust OAM (Operation, Administration, Management) model and provides an integrated multi-layer management interface. It includes transport solutions for the widest range of client interfaces to meet all optical service transport needs. These services include Ethernet (1GbE to 100GbE), Fibre Channel (FC1 to FC16), SDH/SONET, and 1G–100G optical routes. Any topology can be implemented, including point-to-point, star, and mesh.

Low-latency multi-service transportation

Support for multiple module sets

Apollo supports a comprehensive set of optical modules enabling network implementation from the core to the access layer. Available cards include ROADM cards (reconfigurable optical multiplexers), passive multiplexers, amplifiers, dispersion compensation modules, and OADM cards. Additional cards also enable the implementation of advanced link protection solutions (using OMSP 1:1 or OLP 1+1).

Wide application range

Each Apollo transponder and muxponder is designed for a wide range of applications, reducing the need for multiple modules during network deployment and maintaining spare parts. Apollo multiport cards feature integrated internal links, allowing them to be configured as protected, unprotected, or multicast. Ports dedicated to multiple services can support a wide range of protocols and speeds. 100G client interfaces can be configured as 10x10G, 2x40G, or 1x100G without the need to change optical inserts, reducing operating costs.

More efficient infrastructure utilization

Apollo enables increased network resilience to single link or component failures by leveraging solutions previously known from IP networks. Restoring service functionality in the event of a failure is a key feature of transmission networks, offering service protection with a recovery time of less than 50 milliseconds. The use of ASON/WSON in transmission networks yields positive results without compromising their high performance. Using ASON/WSON, network elements monitor link health and can automatically initiate service recovery if anomalies are detected. Sharing resources allocated to service protection allows for efficient use of existing infrastructure.

Apollo ECI modular design

The Apollo family offers a wide range of devices, including solutions for the edge, metropolitan access networks, core/regional, and long-haul networks. Apollo devices, with their modular design, allow for easy network expansion and development.
